Variables
Bald Eagle
Occurred the most disproportionately in western Oregon hexagons
with July minimum temperature (hex. max.) of 9-12 C and April
maximum temperature (hex. med.) of 13-17 C. About equally likely
in western Oregon to occur where any amount of freshwater habitat is
present and May precipitation (hex. med.) less than 97 mm, or where
April maximum temperature (hex. max.) is 10-14 C. In central
Oregon, most likely to occur where the most dominant land cover
occupies only 63% or less of a hexagon, and also in hexagons
containing no more than 6% agricultural lands. In farthest eastern
Oregon, its distribution is associated with hexagons containing more
than 6 land cover types and there are more than 156 miles of stream
per sq. mi. The logistic regression analysis showed positive or negative
association with number of land cover types, towns and cities,
elevation (hex. avg.), July minimum temperature (hex. max.), July
maximum temperature (hex. max.), the extent of public land, and-to a
lesser degree-June maximum temperature (hex. max.).
